I have Ceiling based family of a roof mounted air conditioner that is not great by it works (the first picture). I want this to be a little more accurate so I made a new model of the roof top part as a Mass (second picture) only to learn that you can insert massing families into regular families. I tried to export it to CAD and then import it back as a .dwg but it just turns it blue (third picture) and I can't seem to control it's display. Any advice on how to bring this mass into my ceilling based family. Thanks (PS I'm using REVIT 2011)

My advice is #1 not to create Mass family and try to nest it to the any other catagory #2 not to import any 3D CAD file to any of the family at all. In this case, I would re-create this "form" either from your ceiling based family or to create a generic family and nest into the one you have I think you should be aware of planning ahead when you try to create your own family in the future. Determine if the family catagory, if they need to be hosted or free standing. pararmetric or static.... These are the concepts that can go a long way once you get a hang of making your own families.
