Can someone expain to me the PROS and CONS of  face hosted and wall hosted families. I would like to get started on the correct direction when creating content like receptacles light fixtures etc.

Face hosted - you don't need to own the element.  So if you have linked in architectural files, you can place face hosted elements on architectural model elemsnts.

Face hosted are problematic for placement.  How do you place a wall switch at the right height on a wall in plan view?  Wall hosted can be set off the level.

thanks. in a nutshell. Receptacle and data type devices should be wall hosted, light fixtures to be ceiling hosted (except a wall sconce of course) etc.

I am going to have to disagree. If working in a linked environment like all MEPs should be. I would make them face based, 90% of mep elements should be face-based. You are still able to control the offset of the family...the offset in a face based family is referring to the origin point in the ref level floor plan to whichever level the family is associated.
