When I use the show hidden line tool to show the foundations of the new columns through the concrete slab they show up on my computer screen but when I print it out they are gone. I am perplexed! I need these to show through. I have had problems in the past with hidden objects in my model that were blocking the hidden lines from coming through but this is not the situation this time. Any thoughts?

well it looks like raster printing helps, but doesn't that make fuzzy lines?
