I need to creat a counter top in a kitchen

2 ways:
1- create an in place family-->casework-->solid extrusion
2- external family that you can reuse with more parameters.... thickness, height, width etc etc...

You could also create it using the Floor tool, If you need a backsplash you can create a floor edge sweep. I'm assuming you need a custom shape and the standard countertop families in the Revit Libraries will not work.
