The "package" section head was way to large for our needs so I copied it and changed the font size and circle size. Loaded it back into project and changed the properties to use the new section head. The only problem is that the new one no longer meets the section tail line. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
See attached image for example.

Re-edit the section tag and turn on the reference planes. The intersection of reference planes it the point where the line will continue to.
HTH.

I must really be missing something. I justed your suggestion and aligned the references planes to the edges of the symbol but it still will not meet with the tail. Any more ideas on what I'm doing wrong.
I have the building section heads working fine but I can not get the wall section heads adjusted.

Rather than moving the reference lines (which probably shouldn't be moved). Move the detail elements across by the required amount.

I’m having the same problem and originally tried to move the reference planes with no luck. I took Mr Spot’s advice best I could understand it. I think I got it to work but the section head in the family file looks very sloppy and disjointed. Is this really the way we are supposed to change the size of our section heads? I attached a file of that shows the original section head and then my modified section head.

The fix I had didn’t work when I put the section in at a different angle. That tipped me off to what the real fix is. You need to draw a small line to fill the gap from the edge of your section head to the vertical reference plan. I snapped the small extension line to the horizontal reference plan (which I am guessing rotates depending on the direction of your section cut. I attached an image of the new section head.
