Maybe someone can explain this one to me. Sometimes I can't get objects to move in one axis or another because of the way the object is constructed but if I mirror the object about the correct axis, the new object will then move in both X&Y axis. Is Revit redefining the object construction when it mirrors?

When an object is mirrored they tend to lose their work plane...
Objects created on a work plane will not move off it - other than offsetting it in its properties if provided.
