ok ive a floor construction basically nothing but say 150mm concrete sat on a dpm. when cutting sections traditionally in autocad the dpm would show as a dashed line. is this possible in revit? (without just adding a dashed detail line).

You could add a substrate layer about an 1" thick and then use the linework tool to change the bottom line to a dashed line and the interior line to a darker cut line.

Maybe add a layer to floor structure, then linetype tool as needed?!
