As our model is getting larger and larger, we try to make every person can load less information in, which is enough for his work and at the same time can speed up the operation. We can not unload certain consultant link, since after sync, it will affect other's work. So we put each consultant link in a special workset. And assume that we can only load some worksets in the local file. What I want to confirm here is --

1. close certain workset really means not loading that workset in, instead of not showing it only;

2.When we open a local file, we can specify the work sets we want to open. Once we load the local file in, in the worksets window, we can also manipulate to open and close certain views. Are they doing the same thing?(see attachment)

We use reduced workset loads all the time and that does not affect the central file, only what is loaded on your platform.

Yes, you can open / close worksets on your local.  Revit still has a memory leak so when you do close a workset, not all memory will be made available to you but it does help.  Just monitor your memory and close / reopen revit as required to free up that lost memory.

Thanks for your reply.

 so

load certain worksets = open/close worksets?

One happen at the beginning of open a local, the other you can do after you load all worksets in. Are they the same?

These questions are best answered by experiment.... Just do it!  When you openm a project, you can specify what worksets you open at load time... Do that!  Then close a workset - save the file, close the file and open it.  Find out what happens.  Do it with a sample / copied project and make sure you understand - then teach others in your office.
