I am a newbie so please be patient with my attempt to explain my problem. I have made a few custiom families for a poroject but when it comes to the casework, family I am peplexed. I need to put a custom cabinet face on my case work. I have attempted to edit an exisitng family saving ir as new and creating new cabinet face. When I try to use the parametric function the cabinet shell changes size, but the cabinet face size remains as drawn in the original .

Unfortunately the family editor is not very friendly for newbies. Given the task you are trying to accomplish, I would model the door family outside of the cabinet family and then link into the cabinet family. This of course requires a more advanced knowedge of Revit which requires a lot of time and effort. Perhaps if you post what you are trying to accomplish someone will be able to help you out. First though be sure to look and see if what yu want hasn't already been done by someone. Check the familiy section on this site and be sure to check out the web libray of Revit. http://revit.autodesk.com/library/html/index.html HTH Tom

There are several ways to accomplish by family parameters and or dims. You can use locked dimensions in the family so the cabinet face to shell dim stays constant. Another way would be to create face dimension parameters ie "Face Width" with the formula {= Shell Width - 1" } (or?) and same for height. You would additionally probably need to control the center of the face with equal dims from center of shell. Or try creating the cabinet face by using locked offset sketch lines from the shell.
