...and so my issues continue.

We're wanting to move our fire strategy plans into Revit, but I'm coming up against a lot of "what? Really!? Noooo!" type issues.

We've introduced an instance-based wall parameter called "Fire Class" which we want to use to designate compartmentation walls (and then use colour filters to highlight them) - we did this because having colour filters read the type-based "fire rating" reported the performance of all our walls, which we like to use in our (internal) "views for review"- but doesn't aid us in producing our fire strategy plans, where we want to identify lines of walls visually.

This worked fine in my test model (attached jpeg) but stupidly, I didn't test the behaviour of EVERYTHING first. It turns out we can't edit our new "Fire Class" parameter for the subwalls of stacked walls, curtain walls (the colour filters don't "pick out" the panels or mullions) or wall instances inside groups (the edit in group rolls out the change to all groups, and tabbing through to the instance doesn't work).

We're getting around them with view-based colour overides of selected items - but it seems so strange that the behavioural functionality isn't consistent - or am I missing a trick?

NB: There is some thinking (non-Revit based) that we need to revise our approach to our fire strategy work - so I'm quite impressionable in terms of how other firms do theirs (in-Revit)

use type marks, assign the filter to contain or equal a specific type mark, ie. i hr fire, 1/2 hr fire etc etc. edit the family and enter your type mark into it..

GOOD LOOK Smile
