The Tile Window (WT) command is quite useful for many chores, but if there are only 2 windows, it will always tile 'vertically'. Does anyone know how to change this to default to a 'horizontal' layout of the tiled windows? (and yes, I know that I can do it manually ... :o)

There is a free add-in. Hit ‘top’ or ‘bottom’ layout and adjust the window size you want. It will remember the settings next time you press ‘top’ or ‘bottom’. Check other options as well – kinda neat.

in tab mode, grab the tab of one of the open views and drag & 'place' it (like you're locking the properties or proj browser tab horizontally) over the unused part of the tab bar. i use it to pop two open views into horizontal tile mode. you might have to try it a couple of times to work/get the hang of it.
