hey all,

at present im drawing model components and model line based components to form afull wall, and I will be showing all the walls in elevation views for the manufacturing purposes.

at present I need to use the manufacturers standard colour coded system forshowing the individual components - eg. 35mm thick timbers need to be green.

I have the walls set to view as wireframe so i (and the manufacturer) can see all internal structure.

at present the only way im able to do this is byselecting all components then overriding graphics in viewby element to the colour i want.

is there any way  i can edit the family and add parameters to show this all automatically?

I have tried adding materials  to the panels, including setting all the colours that I want, but they end up as solids on the wireframe model and I only want the linework to be coloured?

i hope im clear on my requirements, any help will be much appreciated.

tom

ok i have partially solved my own problem,

I have noticed the object styles settings in the model itself, but i need to be able to determine the linstyles for each individual generic model, of which there are many different types in my model.

any ideas?

thanks in advance.

What you want to do can get complicated but you can do it.  Generic model is a category by itself.  Elements of that category have linestyles based on the category settings.  If you need additional styles, you can add sub-categories in the family and assign elements to that sub category.
