Hi there, I've built a series of floors (part of a deck), that I have positioned on a steel frame. All good so far. I need to cut a recess/void into the overhang of the deck to create a slot where I can position some lighting. I've tried a few things (creating a floor slab won't work as need the consistency of the pattern on the top face of the deck, but no luck. I've added some screen shots of what I am working with. The recess is tiny, but needs to run almost the entire way around the deck. Any ideas of how I could do this? Thank you in advance, this forum has been incredible useful for my learning in revit as basically teaching myself, thanks to all who has responded. : )

You say they are floors but "...creating a floor slab won't work..." I'm confused, are they regular floors or not. Regular floor will absolutly work for what you are doing and then you can create your edge using a floor edge sweep. Look into split face for the floor material face.
