When our office creates a finishes plan, we typically tag walls with the paint colour to be used (see attached pic, created in AutoCAD). In Revit, I can paint walls using the paint tool, but is there a proper way to tag the colours?

In the past I've just faked it, but it would be nice to have something that will relate to the model.

If you created a face / based family, that wasn't anything except an invisible line, and had a shared parameter in that family that was "Color", you could place this family on walls and tag away... it could also show up in schedules / room ... could get fancy and add a parameter in the family for NSEW and that could also be read in the schedule ... won't give a wall area but could give you maybe what you are looking for.

You could also mess around with thin walls - placed as a grouped square inside the room, ungroupand align walls to room walls & join geometry.  All of that could tag and schedule and would give you areas as well.
