Hi,

Is it possible to do Body Modifiers for Walls in Revit as you can do in AutoCAD Architecture?

I have a wall made up from brickwork and blockwork, every 5 metres or so, the brickwork springs out at 45 degrees around a column (see attached picture).

What’s the best way of drawing this? I would use a Body modifier in AutoCAD Architecture – Can Revit do this? Or do I have to make it up from several parts of wall?

Cheers.

You have a couple of options.

  1. You could build your wall as walls with the brick venner by itself - I don't really like that in this instance.
  2. You could split you rwall on either side of this pier and have an in-place family her.
  3. I would place an architectural column here.  It reeally acts like a pilaster and will assume the finish of the wall.  Then I would edit the cut profile of the wall in plan so that the brick wythe extends in the vee shape.  (This cut profile can be copy pasted into all plan views.)

we have had to do them up as seperate walls in the past.  we have also made them as groups and placed where the were needed. then when it comes to a callout showing more detail we use regions to make the walls appear to be continiuos.  generally only do that for the detail. the other areas we do not detail with regions since the scale factor when printed it is not noticable that they do not appear continious.
