Our project Browser disappeared today! It is only missing from this project. Even when the View/User Interface project browser option is checked, it doesn't appear, and it is happening on everyone's computer that is working on the project (So it seems to be a problem with the file). Our central file is replicated every morning and evening between servers of another team member who works on the project at night. When I opened the file this morning (a copy of their central file) the project browser was there. After I created a new central file, it disappeared. Of course I did not save a copy of the file before I did this as I should have.

Any suggestions?

This is not a file issue.

Close the properties box and see if the browser shows up.

Is someone using dual monitors?

Try unchecking the browser shutting that menu then open it up and check the browser box.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried all of that. Two of us were using dual monitors, but the third person was not. The browser didn't show up on anyone's computer. We closed the properties window, and it reappeared when needed, but the browser would not. While having that project open, we opened other projects and families, and the browser appeared. When I switched back to my project, the browser would keep the other project or family views listed in the browser. When we closed all of the other projects except the problem file, the browser would disappear.

I recreated the central file after having our team members repost their version, and everything worked fine after that. It seems to have been some weird file corruption issue.

Did you install the "Web update 2" for Revit? I believe they solve that issue with this update but check this too: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=14880949&linkID=9243099

this was probably resolved a long time ago but I thought for future reference people would like to know how to fix this.

Go to view, and all the way to the right go to User Interface and check the box of whatever is missing.

Corrupt registration file.

Do the following:

  • Close Revit
  • Run "RegEdit" from the Windows Start
  • Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 20XX\Components\Panels
  • Delete "ProjectBrowser" - Don't worry. A new uncorrupt one will be created on Revit startup.
  • Close RegEdit
  • Restart Revit
  • Problem solved.!

One should also exercise proper backup procedures when editing the Registry.
