I HAVE SOME STEEL BEAMS THAT ARE PRINTING OUT AS SOLID LINES RATHER THAN THE CHAIN DOT LINE I HAVE SPECIFIED. SOME OF MY BEAMS PRINT OUT FINE BUT OTHERS DO NOT. THE ONES PRINTING OUT AS A CONTINUOUS LINE ARE UNDERNEATH SOME FLOOR STRUCTURES THAT ARE AT A HIGHER LEVEL. ON THE SCREEN ALL LINES LOOK OK, BUT NOT WHEN I PRINT OUT. ANY IDEAS?

Try printing as a PDF or exporting a DWF.  Do they come out as continuous then also?  If not, try printing the PDF/DWF.

Weird printing bugs strike again!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Printing does not change the rendering of the beams from preview

Are you complaining about lines in plan view?

If so, then look at what lines you have set for this.  If the scale is too small and the line is too short to show as perscribed, you will see a solid line.  Change the line style in this view for those objects.
