when I have composite walls or floors I would like the concrete structure to have a thicker line and other layers (insulation, brick, wood floor....) to be thinner...
for example, in a section view the floors have thick lines on top and bottom (bottom line is the concrete slab, top line is the wood floor)...is it possible to change settings so that both lines of the concrete slab are thicker and other lines (including the wood) thin?
the same problem is with walls in plan view......
detail level is set to fine
I can use the Linework tool but is there a way to make these settings in the family itself?

Check out host override cut styles in your visibilty settings. Here you can change line types via their layer in the wall... This should enable you some of what you require.
Once you have it setup the way you want, save as a view template and apply to other appropriate views.
