Hello. i have some rafters that are going over my beam. In coarse view wherever there is a rafter there is a small beak in the beam line. i tried making the rafters transparert in over-ride graphics but that dosen;t seem to work on coarse viw. Is there a way of making my steel beam the most important thing visuallly on the drawing, similar to the bring to front send to back functions in autocad?

Are you sure that this is a graphical break and not actually a break between 2 columns?  Structural connections do funky things when you start getting them close to each other on different objects.  I would check in 3d and make sure that revit did not actually place a physical break in the beam.

Also, screenshots are worth a million words... Smile

Thanks for the reply. have attached a screen shot showing just structural framing isolated. You can see that the timbers which are all at a higher level than the steel beams, obscure the steel beams. this is particularly apparent towards the south of the screen where wto timbers running east west obscure the steel beam at lower level completely. Is theere any way i can override selected beams so that they are transparent. (when i tried setting them to transparent it didn;t seem to do anyting.

Perhaps i should draw the timber roof framing as a different catagory. at the moment rafters are drawn as angled structural columns and ridge beams as structural framing?

Based on this screen shot, let me ask.  What are you trying to convey in this view?  Let me explain:

If you are in a view that is cut above both the timbers and the steel beams, and the timbers are above the beams, why would you not want them to read as above the beams?

Secondly, are these timbers not structural members as well?  If not, why are they present in the view, if so why are they not being represented as symbolic lines as well?

I only ask because it seems like you may be trying to overload the view with information that is just making it more difficult to read.  If you need to show both the timbers and the steel beam, timbers in one form and the steel beam in another form, maybe try selecting the timbers, right clicking and using "Override Graphics in View> Elements" and choosing transparent in that dialog.

HTH!
