I have set up and drawn a Revit model and made the mistake of not setting up my sheets until now. The problem I'm having is that the floor plans will not fit on the title block at their current orientation - and I don't have the option of using a larger title block or using a smaller drawing scale. The floor plan will fit if it is rotated 90 degrees. What I want to do, to keep the sheet view, and drawing views consistent, is to rotate the entire model 90 degrees, including the generic models (there's a lot of them), reference planes, section cuts and elevation markers. I tried this in the floor plan view by selecting everything, then doing Modify-Rotate, but the generic models will not rotate with the rest of the model.

Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

You dont need to rotate the model.  When you are on a sheet activate the view you need rotated and then, click on the crop region and rotate the crop region 90deg.    What I would recommend is to always draw as north being up on the screne and then just using this method to fit things onto sheets.

You could aslo just create a rotated sheet.  Either would be easier and less problematic than rotating the model.

That was easy - thanks! I tried your first suggestion and rotated the crop region. It reoriented the floor plan view automatically. I see that it also automatically rotates the room tags and section cut markers, but does not rotate already placed text. This is not really a problem - just a matter of setting up the sheets before I do the labeling/text.

Thanks.

I have a similar situation.  We started a project and then the site changed.  The model is now not sitting true north and needs to be roated 90 degrees counterclockwise.  I used the roate true north command but some of the familes didn't rotate or went missing.  Is there a way around this or do I just need to fix all that messed up?  Using version 2020.

So I figured it out.  It is knowing the difference between project north and true north! I rotated the true north using the rotate true north command.  Then you can change the orientation of the plan view to true north instead of project north and everything rotates correctly.  Hope this helps someone else.  Smile
