Does anyone out there use something other than a mouse? For instance, one of the 3D Motion Controllers from 3Dconnexion (http://www.3dconnexion.com)? Seems like we're leaving behind the old CAD days, so shouldn't we look at new ways of input and manipulation too? And what about keyboards? I need a new one badly, and wonder if there is a more efficient keyboard for Revit modelling out there. Thanks for any input, Karen

I use a Wacom Intuos 3 4"x5" tablet. The 3D Space contoller is rumored to be working on compatability with Revit. Tom

I used a tablet many years ago with AutoCAD, but switched to a mouse as I moved into Windows from DOS. What advantages does the tablet give?

These are the new breeds of tablets. The give you precise control over screen position and they are pressure sensative so in applications like Photoshop brushes and smudges respond to pressure. They have a mouse and a pen. I've taken to using the pen since I have a joint on my right hand that is out of alignment and sore from using a mouse for so many years. For more info visit the Wacom website: www.wacom.com Tom

I looked over the Wacom website, but couldn't get much of a feel for how it would be with Revit, most of the copy relates to graphics apps. But then I went to the AUGI forums and found long, highly enthusiastic discussions about the Wacom tablets. Now I'm ready to run out and buy one! Seems like the only minor gripe is the lack of a scroll wheel. But one fellow said he got a keyboard with a scroll wheel - works great for him.

Karen, The Intuos 3 I have at work comes with a touch strip that I have programmed for zooming. It also has buttons that you can program for each application. In Revit I have a zoom extents, zoom out, and zoom in. I also have one of the pen buttons programmed as an F8 which alows me to pan/zoom/ twist by holding ALT/CTRL That said, the Wacom tablet can take some getting used to. I had one at home first and it took me awhile to get used to it. Many people buy them based on the hard core user reviews and then find them too hard or akward to use. I was fortunate that at AU 2003 Wacom had a booth setup to try them. Wacom does have a 30 day return policy as they realize it is a tough sell without trying them. Tom
