Alright, I know this is kind of a funny question, but hear me out. I use Revit almost all day, every day, and the little noise that Revit feels necessary to sound every time I delete an object is driving me off the wall. The noise, which normally accompanies Windows error messages, has always been something that bothered me about Revit but I've never pursued it until now. I do listen to music while I work, so the obvious solution of hitting the mute button is out of the question, and I rather not resort to changing or removing the sound in Windows system properties. Is there a way to simply disable or remove certain sounds coming from Revit?

 Thanks guys and gals.

That would drive me crazy. I suspect this is MAC related? My Windows based REVIT has always been silent unless you make an input error. I've never had a sound show up from deleting an object. Can we hear from the MAC people?

Ugh, no doubt, its driving me bloody mad. I thought I've always remembered Revit having this charming property, even when I used to work on a PC, but I guess if you're not hearing it (dgcad) then I'm off base. Perhaps it is a related to Mac, and I'd love to hear from other's if anyone else is experienceing this. I appreciate the feedback dgcad!

I think the problem is 'how' to replace the sound.

The hope is that I can remove the sound altogether, not change it to something different, and I would prefer to change the setting in Revit, not through the Windows control panel.

Googled and found this:

The SoundOff software can turn-off all your Windows sounds in just two clicks. You don’t have to access your PC’s Control Panel because this program is placed right on your taskbar making the muting of all Windows-based applications easier and faster.

SoundOff can also be applied when you don’t want to be disturbed while you’re listening to music or having a video conversation via Skype.

You can download SoundOff for free at

Great, thanks for the scouting WWHub, sounds like a good solution. To your knowledge, is there no way to simply disable sounds in Revit program settings? Perhaps I'm missing something in the Options Menu?

rastamanCP, I am with you that sound is really annoying. That is why i am reading this post. I like WWHub idea of sound off, but I too was looking for a simple way to modify Revit. I have never herd this delete sound until Revit 2012 came out. I will keep digging, if i find something i will post it here.

Hello,

I spoke to our Autodesk dealer. It is not Revit making the sound it was my Windows 7 sound settings. The sound would only happen when i select an object in Revit and hit Backspace. If i hit delete or click on the red X or right click select delete no sound. To fix this issue i went into

Start menu, Control Panel, Hardware and Sounds, Change System Sounds under Sound, in the list of sounds find Exclamation and if it has a speaker by it it is on. Select Exclamation and in the drop down menu below (Sounds) select none. Press ok and try it out. Let me know how it turns out.

Good Luck.
