As per the title really, we've a model, not all that big (60mb), not all that complicated, with a few groups (model & detail) that whenever we go to review the internal layer structure of a wall in the preview pane, forces the error message "changes etc etc ungroup model groups etc etc" - which force-crashes Revit mid-chew.

Why would a graphic preview of a wall need groups ungrouped? This is happening BEFORE any geometric edits are being made!?!

Sounds like a bug to me - but as willing as I am to aid Autodesk fix their problems, I want our own fixed first. Any ideas / suggestions people?

We probably need a whole lot more information about what is in your group.

Do these groups have something unique in them like wall layers adjustments (unlocked layers in wall definition)?   Do they include edit cut profiles?  What?

Good questions.

Model groups are in our (local) control; they include steelwork elements (we're not using worksets), typuical bedroom setouts (walls, floors, ceilings) and repeated design assemblies (bay windows made from system elements, etc) - none feature anything clever - nothing more than any of our other models (that don't exhibit the behaviour) have anywa.

Detail groups are our partner companies' domain - and your queries suggest maybe they've locked dims to wall layers in the groups - could that be an issue?

I think I'm going to have to be brutal on a copy of the model and ungroup them allone by one.
