How would one create archways and doorways where the brickwork and colors in the attached image could be applied?

probably doesn't answer your question -- but I was kinda bored so I modeled this. It's a beautiful door, and the proportions are difficult to duplicate. I fudged a bit. http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=view&object_id=10285 For particularly unique needs, I'd go with building your own families. For variations of standard doors, you might benefit searching around for a highly refined parametric family.
