I've used a couple of wall hosted recessed elements that give me problems sometimes in certain walls. For some reason it shows the wall as if it has a CMU layer which is not the case. I attached a before and after picture without the element. I'm using Revit 2011 but was also having the same problem in 2010. I'm sure its something in the recessed family but don't know what. I've attached that as well. Thanks in advance.

Try going to the wall properties and turning off "wraps at inserts." That might fix your problem. The crosshatch that dominates your "after" wall is the same hatch as your outermost layer on the "before." Kinda suspicious, there.
