I have made some mechanical families as well as downloaded some from the Trane Company. When I go through and fill out all of the Mechanical and Electrical Data in the symbol, the symbol still shows 0V and 0Va next to the electrical connection. What is happening? The Electrical Depatment is unable to connect any of this equipment to their power panels, it gives them an error that the voltage is 0V and is out of range. Just wondering, KHeinz

when creating new equipment click on the electrical symbol for the connector element and you will get a new listing of loads to fill in make sure you fill in the (Voltage) 120 V, or whatever. and then in the (Apparent Load) VA, which is the same as watts. Fill in the intended amounts if these items are not listed you can add them in the table as new parameters. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. So we cant just put in all the electrical criteria as Zero when the familiy is made and let the mechanical designer edit it in the plans later? I have made a lot of mechanical equipment with 0 Volts 0 amps Etc and the designer has gone in on his plans and placed the appropriate values in himself. Why would the values have to be done in the family? Why dont the vaules that the designer has placed in on an equipment show up? If it wont use it, why does it allow for it to be placed in? The values should be greyed out. Revit can be so frustrating!!! KHeinz

what you are saying seems logical but then each time one of the designers wants to use a mechanical device he then has to go in an work on the family which he can do. Seems like it would be easier if you are creating the equipment and have the technical data to go ahead and put it in while you are making it.
