I am working with an existing revit file to create a new project - I did not make the original file. I am trying to add a pad that shares some lines with a few of the existing pads. I copied the existing pads to my clipboard and pasted them into my new building pad to make sure they share lines but I am still getting errors saying my pads overlap. One of the existing pads is a circle - would this cause any issue? please help!

A PAD can share edges with other Pads but can't overlap with other pad, i think you are creating that pad overlaping the pad of the building, take a look at the edge/limit of that building pad.

ty, is right, pads can be a pain the other thing you may notice as you work with them you will have small earth walls appear from time to time as the pads are not exactly coincident. have fun.

Yeah, I already copied and pasted the building pad from the existing building and circular building adjacent to the one I am trying to make. I trimmed the lines down to the size I needed them. I just can't figure out why it still isn't working.

You could remake the geometry of the existing pads. Remake the curves and rejoin so you know the geometry is good. Sometimes helps to have a plan view with pads only (and a 3d one as well) See if you can track down the overlap. Get it working then add lines in until you hit the error. May give clue.

Usually it's pretty difficult to work with existing pads (I mean to create new and new...) especially if some of them wasn't created by you.In this case you have to know the construction process, then, even if you work in team, all members know where each pad should pass from...
