We are being asked to merge to large Revit MEP files into one file. They are currently linked, but the Architect wants one model. Is there a way to do this? Everything we have tried so far has failed or crashed. Would love to hear some suggestions.

Why does the architect want one file? Have you tried binding one in the other, then sending them that file?

Link, bind, ungroup... Unfortunately you will lose any annotation you had on these elements and if the levels vary things might jump around a little which will require cleaning up...
