We are using V2011 and were excited when a new feature was the ability to tag individual objects in linked files. With this technology shouldn't it stand to reason that then these items would also be inteligent enough to schedule as well? We have a model that is split into an exterior shell file linked into an interior file where we are setting up all the sheets and detail views from. No matter what I try, the doors from the exterior file only come across with the number. We are using the same door families in both files, but many (though not all) of the defined parameters come across as blanks.

All fields from a linked file should be able to be scheduled and show the correct data. If some are coming up blank that aren't blank in the linked file to me indicates that although they have the same "parameter name" it is not using one with the same ID. Sounds as though you've added project parameters in both the files for the extra fields required in your door schedule? And in doing so you haven't used shared parameters. You'll need to make them shared parameters in order to ensure the parameters have same ID. Then the content should come across. But be warned when changing a project parameter to shared parameter they will lose their content. So you may want to export that out to excel first... HTH.

The most common one is not actually a parameter, I've discovered, at least not one that we've added. They are not recognizing the rooms they are opening into....which I can see may be a problem, as in the exterior file they are lining up to access the rooms defined in the linked interior file. It may be a circular refence too complicated fro Revit to get its hands around yet?

Yes rooms, material and keynote tagging of links don't yet work in Revit 2011. So it makes sense that it is unable to parse this data for from room or to room...
