I'm starting my first revit project which has gabled roof trusses. I'm using the Howe Gabled Truss 8 Panel truss family that is already loaded in Revit Structure. In the properties dialog box I have the ability to set the bottom chord's bearing elevation by setting the Start & End Level Offset value. I also the ability to set the elevation at the ridge by setting the Truss Height elevation. The problem I'm having is setting the slope of the truss. The only way I can create a truss with the slope I want is to extend or "stretch" the bottom chord 2'-0" larger than the overhang I need. See attached.

try this, create roof first if you have not done this, this is under architect tab , may need to read help to learn to model a roof, but this is easy to learn take the time this will help you with any simple or complete roof shape.

also you may need to turn on roof in your views and set view depth to see your roof. So set your roof slopes  and foot print area that you need.

after you have the roof shape, then model in your truss(you can use a flat truss), cut section along side of truss profile. select the truss, then pick attach top/bottom, then pick your roof profile. the truss will change and match your roof shape. a flat truss will become a double pitched truss or any other shape of roof profile. another plus is you can change or edit roof slope and the shape of the truss will follow your edit. Hope this points you in the right direction. you will run into other problems I am sure.

also try modeling roof shape first them placing joists or beams this works the same.
