Hi,

I seem to have a problem with pivot points and would appreciate some help.

I want to make a rotatable door leaf symbolic component which I will add to a door family to represent the leaf, I want to be able to make several family types which show the component at 0 degrees, 45, 90 and various other angles.

I’ve set up the component and linked constrained it with an angle parameter.

It works fine, apart from when I set the angle to 0, after this, when I set it to another angle the pivot point of the component moves away and messes up the door.

Any ideas why this is happening??

I cannot obviously make a door where the leaf keeps floating away!

Cheers.

In my experience, families with rotating components like that do sometimes act a little wonky when you are testing in the family. However, once you get them into the project they act just fine. If it behaves like you want it to in the family with the exception of one angle (0° in your case), load it into a project and see if it works or not. I did that with your family, and it seems to work ok. I was able to change it from 45 to 0 to 90 just fine.

yes - your right!!

It works fine in a project but goes wrong in the family editor.

Well, at least I can carry on now, just a shame I won't be able to check my family in the editor.

Thanks for your help.

You should be able to do some checking in the family, there will just be one or two specific angles you will have to avoid.
