I've created a familly with materials (Metal and Mapple). I've inserted it in a project. For some reason the shadows and colors will not show once the familly is in the project, everything is just grey. Any idea why/how to fix it? Thank you.

Is that "Family" an imported object from CAD or Sketchup? or did you create that with solid extrusions and so on? About the materials (grey), in your project > Materials check the "Names" and see if they have the materials you just assign in family. About the shadows is wierd, can you post here some images where we can see the problem?

Hello, Thank for the quick reply. Here are the screenshots. The familly was created in Revit. The Materials exist in the project and I checked "Use Render Appearance for Shading"

Change the visual mode "Consistent Colors" to "Shaded with edges"

That did not work, it looks the same in any view. I've attached the files.

"colors will not show once the familly is in the project" When you load a family in the project the familly's materials appear as set in the project. 2 ways to figure this out: 1. In your project Go to manage -> materials and check the materials metal & maple they are probably not set correctly, choose the material) 2. In the family go to manage -> materials change the name of the used materials. -> load into project.

I figured it out!. It was not the materials. Since I am using Revit MEP, the default view template applied to 3d view (or most new views for that matter) only gives color to MEP equipment (ex: lighting fixtures, plumbing, electrical boxes...) . By applying thearchitetural presentation view template on the view, the problem is solved! Both for colors and shadows. Thnaks for all the help guys
