How do I create a criss/cross Railing.  Old Queenslander style.

Find a railing that has a decent base point of what you are after. Maybe a few balusters and top and bottom rail. Then you will need to edit the railing properties. Pretty easy to do. Just play around with the settings and you may need to edit the baluster families and railing families to get the look you are after. 

 You can really do some great things with railings. You can build an entire stair by using a railing.

Thanks for the response, I started by duplicating an existing family and have midified it to the extent of removal of existing posts and balusters retaining only the rails. I need to insert a post at centre span and the balusters need to be raked to form an X shape. See PDF attached.
