Whenever I try to replace a material with a custom material it crashes my Revit Program I tried the whole change the preview to draft quality and I even tried restarting my computer a few times but still no fix Just wondering If anybody knew the solution Edited on: Tue, Sep 21, 2010 at 9:55:19 PM

I'm having this same issue. Revit crashes when applying a custom material. Does anyone have a solution?

Verify if the workstation has any of the Microsoft Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Ease of Access Center tools enabled.
For example, with On-Screen Keyboard or Magnifier enabled Revit can crash at the Materials dialog in a similar manner
outside of that- about all it says to do is complain to autodesk.. lol
in other words turn off the stupid eye-candy- and believe it or not-
the ribbon is actually on-screen keyboard shortcuts for the native UI..
i go in and out of revit materials a lot and i maybe seen it crash
only once or twice with 2011- because i don't use eye-candy OR the ribbon..
but changing materials is crash-prone anyway..
try changing eye-candy like crazy in windows 7 and watch it crash too..
the key is to hit that save button everytime you complete even
some small work on a revit project..

It ended up being the Wacom tablet driver - or possible Microsoft's "flicks" enchancement to the Wacom. Either way, uninstalling the driver fixed the issue.
