Hi all, I am new to Revit and would like to know if anyone could explain how to create a vertical 2x6 wood member to use as a stud in my current project. I loaded structural members into my project but can only get them to go in as horizontal members such as beams and joists. Thanks

Usually you wouldn't model studs in revit since you don't really show studs in construction documents. But you can load it from Structural/Columns/Dimension Lumber-Column.rfa into your project, and you'll find a 2x6 in there.

Also you must model it as a 'column' or 'structural column' and it's object style is controlled in those same two categories. It is not considered 'Framing' in REVIT. Columns are not 'Framing' they are columns or structural columns. So, you can load them from the location mentioned above from the insert tab > 'Load familiy' or you can load it after starting the structural column tool. OR you can just drag and drop the family it in from windwos explorer. Then use 'structural column' tool to place it while paying attention to the top and bottom constraints.

If you are a subscription member... I believe you can download the "wood framing" under subscription center.

If you try out the 'Wall Framing Extension' from the Autodesk subscription center you may want to read this review.
