Hi All,

This is my first post, but I have been using RevitCity as a resource for years.

My question pertains to Revit Architecture 2010.

I am curiouos about the differences (if there are any) between a Reinstall and running the Repair function.

Any information is greaty appreciated!

Repair just replaces files that are critical to the program being able to run and no content is reinstalled.

Reintstall does  complete re-install of the software, content and all.

Thanks for your quick response!

I am having a series of issues with my version of Revit here in my office.  I have lost the ability to print to any of our three plotters, create PDFs, import/export CAD, as well as many other basic functions that no one else here is having (there are about 20 of us using Revit full time), not to mention I have to restart Revit twice an hour, typically.

Our Revit leads suggested a Reinstall, but the IT guy will only run the repair function and is refusing to reinstall my version, claiming that there is no difference whatsoever between the two.

My question stems from those problems, ultimately I am wondering if any of those issues could possibly be fixed by a reinstall, since no one else here in the office is having any of the same issues I am. Basically my hands are tied and my performance ability has been cut in half.

Again, this is my first post, so if if this thread should have been placed in another category (i.e. Tech Support), my apologies.

Any information is still greatly appreciated!

That's what I thought: that ultimately I could benefit from a reinstall. Unfortunately our IT guy is refusing to that, claiming that the repair is exactly the same (which is not working).  And since he still deploys from a disc that he keeps locked in his desk (I Know...) I guess I will have to wait?!?

Sounds like my problem is based more on office politics than Revit...

To answer your question, our projects typically include higher education, worship centers, K-12, equestrian, institutional, recreational, etc..  Currently I am working on a Country Club addition/renovation.

Again, thanks for your quick response.
