Revit Architecture 2011

Mouse Problem

Can't figure out if it's mouse setting, computer, or programme issue

Programme/mouse working normally until a few days ago.  How when I select door/window/wall/sheet/dimension/or component the item 'jumps' up the screen proportiuonally to how close zoomed in, (Occuring in plan & elevation, but does not happen with a door restrained in wall orientated left to right across screen) .

I've tried a number of different wireless and wire mice, same result. Altered control panel setting to restore default, no change.

I have the programme installed on and old computer as a reference monitor/backup. I've tried the same mice on that and the programme performs correctly.

Any possible suggestions where to attempt to solve?

We had the same issue happen to one of our end users and we just ended up rebuilding his Windows profile...worked like a charm.

We also tried updating all drivers, resetting the ribbon, deleting the communication center file and a ton of other stuff and none of that worked.

Turn off drag and drop...lower right corner of your screen.  You are moving the object.

Hub is talking about the Press & Drag check box in the bottom right corner.

I have mine turned off to avoid moving something accidently as I am panning around the models.

This will work but elements should not move when they are selected even if press and drag is checked.

When this happend to us, it was right after some Windows updates were installed and after the massive amounts of updates that happened this recently...one of them may be to blame.

To Mr brettgoodchild,

Your probably correct  I had a long windows update two mornings ago, automatic restart and (thinking about it with hindsight) the problem began.  I've never turned on, used, or understand the 'press and drag' function, (until it's wasted my day).

Turning off 'press and drag' solves my problem, but I just noticed my old machine (revit 2011 installed) has this function activated and does not cause the components to jump up the screen. Also slight flicker over whole drawing when selecting component on main machine (with 'press and drag' turned off), though its location does not alter at random - which happens when turned on.

Sorry about the terminology guys... I'm at home and forgot it was Press and drag not Drag and drop... Getting to old to remember.

press and drag is not the reason why this all hapens, i read in a post somewhere on this forum, i've forgotten where exactly, that you have to dock the options toolbar at the bottom of the screen instead of at the top of your screen. that solved the problem for me, and dried my tears. (with options toolbar i mean the bar wich appears when you add a wall, where you can fill in the offset distance etc.)

Press and Drag is just a way to avoid the annoyance of elements moving upon selection. We tried docking the options bar previously and it had no affect on anything. Autodesk even suggests redocking the Project Browser

See the link for Autodesk's response.

Hi there, I used an Applle Display for Revit, and i was having the same problem; each time i click anywhere, the windows started flickering or flashing.... I've deselected the "press &Drag" case but didnt resolve.... After making uptades and trying to fix it, nothing work. Finally after 5 hrs waisting my time, I fixed by the dummiest way i imagine:

Under the ribbon, there is a line that actiates when you select a title block or something, right click and select "Dock at Bottom".... anyways that solve my problem.
