Is it possible to set a family type's elevation so that whenever you place it it is always at a particular height?  Here is the situation: I downloaded some revit plumbing families from American Standard and becuase of ADA restrictions, they are always going to be one of two heights. So I have created two types within the family. The only difference between the two types would be the mounting height.  Ideally I would like to make it idiot proof, so that whenever someone places each type it goes in the correct height without them having to go and change the mounting height each time.  Is this even possible?

If I understand you correctly, yes there's a way.

It can depend on the family template type you're using but generally yes, you can set either a type or instance based parameter off of the default reference line which once populated (in the family) results (post-loading into a project) the elements will always place based on that dimension on the first placement...

To see it in practice open the default window template (which has a default type parameter "Default Sill Height" ) load it straight away into a project and note how all the windows when placed come in at 800mm off of the respective level.

That all said, in the interest of scheduling I can't imagine you want "duplicate" types just for the same item at differing heights (unless you're happy to ignore the "duplicated type mark" warning and for them to share a type mark?) so it's a case of setting the family to the most common height, and have your users adjust the others manually.

I could be wrong though.
