I have HP laptop (tx2 1300) with 4GB RAM and 64bit windows 7 Operating system. I'm not in a position to upgrade/change my laptop. I have tried RA2010 and it crashed miserably. I already have ACAD 2010 which is used basically for 2D drawings, Also I'm looking forward to install Rhino V4.0. I never knew 64bit system would get me in trouble. Thanks a lot for your time.

Your laptop should run the current version fine. Provided you have the latest video drivers installed and it has a half decent video card. 4GB RAM will allow you to work on models up to 100MB ish fairly reliably.

I have a similar laptop running 2010 with 4GB. Make sure all other apps are closed first! I think a good ratio of RAM to file size is about 1GB per 10MB of model. That's not to say you can't run 1GB per 25MB of model like me but it may not run well.

Revit 2010 was terrible. 2011 runs much, much smoother. easier system requirements than 2010 from what I can tell. You wouldn't want to date yourself with older versions like 2009. Our office laptop is roughly what you have and is almost indistinguishable from our workstations.

Thanks a lot Chris, billings and alter ego Chris, I have the latest drivers updated, i hope my graphics card is fine. Here are the specs of my HP TouchSmart tx2z 1300 tablet: AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-85 (2.3GHz, 2MB L2 Cache) 4GB DDR2 System Memory ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics with 64MB Display Cache Memory Billings, You know i tried all that, even to the extent of going on task manager and ending any silly processes to having windows basic display theme. In my case size didn't matter, when i was just starting a model revit would end abruptly, I partially suspected it to be a bug. Alterego, You got me right, even i was worrying about going retrograde. My friend suggested to go in for RA2011, which has 64 bit native support. Nothing like going in for '11! Thanks again
