Hi all,

I am an architectural student and new to revit. One of our assignments is to create a wood screen wall in revit.  In plan view this wall is 1" wide (a horizontal boart 1" thick and 5.5" wide).  In elevation view the wall has a 2" air gap between each board.  The boards or connected on either end to a 6x6 post.  So in elevation it looks something like 2" air gap, 5.5" horizontal board, 2" air gap, 5.5" board, this pattern continues the entire 18' height of the wall.  I have been trying everything I know and cannot come up with a solution for this screen wall. Can anyone help?

Thanks

There are a few ways to achieve this:

  1. Create a parametric family with arrays etc (most accurate method, but will require a good understanding of family creation).
  2. Model as a curtain wall (using mullions for the boards) and empty system panels for the panels and then place the posts as columns.
  3. Preference, model the nominal thicknesses as layers in a wall, use a surface pattern to represent in elevation the pattern and place columns for the posts.

It really depends on the scale of your project overall and what its going to be used for as to the best approach...

HTH.
