I've imported some 3D elements from an .sat file as a mass. They work perfectly in plan, elevation and section views, but I have trouble controlling the material/color in 3d views. All elements (even though they were imported seperately) show the same material and, no matter what I do to the object style, I cannot change it. Is the material determined by the mass object style or do I change it in 'Imported Categories'?

I also can't 'Overide Graphics in View' for those elements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My advice is to import those SAT obj. into a "Family", (each object in one family) first then you can load into project, in that family go to materials, you will see (if those objects have different colors) something like "Render Material ###.###.###", you can rename and change those "render mat. ###...." to whatever you need, also, there are dozens of threads about this same question, search in foruns for "SKETCHUP"

Thanks! That method works very well for controlling the appearance. Is there a way to load it with the original coordinates? When I load the family into my projects the elements are not visible in my 3D view, even though visibility of all elements is turned on. I'm sorry if this is fairly elemental - I'm quite new to Revit.

You import that SAT file into a "Mass" family? if so, in your project 3D view,  type VG and turn ON "Mass"

I found my imported element (they were placed outside my sections box (duh!!), but they do not display with the shading color I assigned in the family editor. The render material in the family editor is 255-255-255 (dark grey), but when I insert it into my project, the element color is beige and when I change the material shading color, my element color does not change. Likewise, changing the Mass material in the Object Style does nothing to the inserted elements.  Most confounding - maybe this is a bit beyond a newbie like myself.
