What is the best way to add stairs to a porch or patio?

Using the Revit stairs.  You don't need a level at the bottom if you are concerned about that... Just set your top and bottom of your stairs off your floor level.

Stair starts with riser, and ends with riser and no landing.
I usually make the landing or porch a floor.

Thanks,  what I initially did was make the stairs but since It was all on the 1st level the stairs where just floating, so i added a ground level and that worked.  Was it a more simple way to do that, without adding the level.

No - you didn't need a level at the bottom - Just a negative offset from your floor.  The top of the stairs might be a negative offset off the floor to if your porch is a step down from the main floor.  I would not have a level for the porch either if it is lower than the floor.  Just have that floor system offset below the main level.
