The following items should at least have an option to be room bounding in the properties dialogue box: In place wall families; structural columns; & wall openings Here's why: Often I am forced to use an in place wall family for irregular shaped walls, or for strange conditions (usually old buildings that have had several renovations) Nevertheless the strange walls are part of a room and therfore force the revit user to trace the profile with room separation lines. Often concrete columns are butted by interior partitions and are not furred out. The column acts a part of a space defining room. Currently I have to trace them with room separation lines. Wall openings sometimes are large & wide and should not define a room. Other times they are only a few feet wide, and you do want them to act like a doorway w/out the door. They should have an option to be room bounding, so that I dont have to trace the opening when I do want it to define a space. The big idea behind revit is to eliminate repeat work; dont make me trace room separation lines around elements we have already modeled. Thank you.

Once you plave the pall you can click on the properties and then toggle it off. When I was at AU I talked with one of the programmers about not being able to have that option when placing and he told me that so many people had called saying the rooms weren't creating boundries (when they went in and toggled it off) they took the option out rather than get the phone calls. I would like to see them provide the option again, mainly because if you don't know the program well enough to figure that out you shouldn't be using the program.
