In Revit 2011, I assigned a tile pattern to a set of stairs I created CryingType Properties/Tread Material & Riser Material).  The pattern shows up in the model just fine, but fails to display in the plan, even with the detail level set to high.  I know that the pattern settings should be correct since the nearby floor slab in the drawing is displaying the same pattern properly.  Is there any way to fix this stair surface pattern problem?

Check Visibility and Graphics to see if the surface patterns for stairs has been turned off. Also check to see if there are any element overrides applied to the stair.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not seeing Surface Patterns in the list of Graphic Overrides under stairs.  All I see is Down Arrow, Down Text, Hidden Lines, Stairs Beyond Cut, Stringers, Stringers Beyond Cut, Up Arrow, & Up Text.  I wonder if there is another category besides stairs that I'm not seeing.

I have never seen a surface pattern show on plan views of stairs - only 3D views.

That's what I'm finding out too.  I fail to see the logic in this decision by the programmers.  One more thing to add to the list for the next round.

I see what you mean. The lines for stairs in plan is a symbolic representation, just like symbolic lines in families.
