An elliptical stair can be drawn the same as a straight stair using the line tools under the stair construction tab.  NOTE:  You will have to use simple arcs to create your ellipse.  I know this is an approximation of an ellipse but I really prefer this because you can dimension this and then the contractor can actually build this.  A true ellipse is very hard to build in the field and I don't think anyone can really see the difference.

I am using 2012 and there is still no Elliptical option for creating Stairs!? I am trying to model Elliptical Residential Stairs to be built on a CNC machine. I need the stairs to be exact.

Are People using Inventor, or 3DS max to model stairs for this stuff? or is there a way to do this in Revit that I am not seeing?

  Please help

i would suggest that you try the Conceptual Mass modeller. but you will have to  totally model your stair. which i would assume would be the same with Inventor, 3d Max etc. But you know what they say about assuming.
