I would like to see a temporary wireframe button, something along the lines of the temp hide/isolate and thin lines tools. I find myself switching to wireframe to see hidden items quite often, but having to remember to switch back is getting old.

I do use the 'Hide In View' extensively to clean the area up . . . . like 100 times a day.
