You decide but if it's a "Simple 4 storage apartment" i think i start placing the walls and floors unless i really need a Solar mass study.

Thx Typhoon

What's benefits of using Mass study?

I saw the offical tutorial from autodesk using mass to form the building,, that's why i am confusing which one to go for.

Hi,

We have a few designers here using Revit to start out a project and to be honest with you, we almost never use massing. Most of the time, they have an idea that they want and just start, as Ty says, placing walls and what not. Plus, a lot of our designs begin at design charrettes and we find they don't want to see masses, but actual building components.

We use massing to figure out some more of the complex design issue if need be.

I imagine as the industry starts to get into the sustainable side of design, more of use will use massing for solar analysis and things of that nature.

I'll chime in with both Ty and Brett to agree, unless you want to design something extremely unusual, stick with the basics they are hard enough to start with.
