Hey guys, got the above mentioned problem, and i have no idea wat to do, or where to start from to fix the issue.

we just got new imacs (i dont know y...must be cause they look preety) and nehows, running 64bit revit 2010...innitially started with display freezing, restarting, and goin back to normal, with warning that coes up saying "display driver ati radeon family stopped responding and has succesfully recovered'...

was working tru those warning, but now it started crashing the whole computer...

done a read up on it, lot of ppl have issues...some say its video card drivers, some say its bootcamp, some say its windows issue, there are suggestions to play with regedit, roll back the drivers and watnot..

i would take a risk if this would be my comp...but its companies, and its brand new...so trying not to stuff it up too much...also downloaded frameworks...sorry guys...

i dont know wat version bootcamp we running, but the video card/driver is ati radeon 4850hd or something like that...

god i hate 'i stuff'...appologies to all 'i stuff' fans...

I'm running Revit Arch. 2011 on my brandy-new MacBook Pro, with an i7 processor and Windows 7. I have the exact same issue, where the "Video Driver has stopped responding but has recovered", almost exclusively when I am running the machine heavily. However, mine rarely crashes when the error occurs. From what I have gathered it's related to the display drivers that come with Bootcamp (I'm using ver. 3.1), which aren't appropriately formatted for Windows yet. After a decent amount of research I've conceded to waiting until the next set of drivers are released and hoping for the best, but please let me know if you discover something significant. Also, what version of Windows are you using? If not Windows 7, perhaps that has something to do with why mine usually doesn't crash when the display driver fails?

detailed specs-

MacBook Pro - BootCamp V. 3.1

Intel Core i7 CPU M620@ 2.67GHz

4.0 GB RAM

Windows 7 (64x)

GeForce GT 330M

There is a good chance that the bootcamp drivers are not supported by the new hardware yet.  You may want to have your IT guy try out Parallels and see if that helps any.  I have also had the Video driver stop responding issue in Bootcamp, but not in a while.  Also try using the update drivers from ATI's website, see if that helps any.  Bootcamp is not set up to take full advantage of the video card abilities, unfortunate drawback of Virtualization (let's face it, bootcamp says it's not an emulator.. but it is Smile ).

I run Bootcamp with Windows 7 Ultimate, revit 2011 on my Macbook Pro 5.1 and it zips along.  I usually only have issues when I start doing realistic view modes.

Hope this helps, I'll keep watching.

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

well, i have been doin significan amout of research, and it is conclusive...its not Revit issue, it has frozen and restarted the screen without ANY autodesk application...

i was on the fone with amd ati support, revit support, apple support...the ati guys said they dont have drivers for win 7 pro 64 bit...which they do, cause the Apple tech Support found them for me...

they suggested i download the drivers, and install them in mac side, and then display drivers in windows/bootcamp side...all i know is im getting headache...

ill let you guys know how i go...by the way there are new update drivers for as apple call it "imac late 2009 win 7 drivers"...its for bluetooth cause its having issues, and also for the ati...by the way if someone works something out...let us know...it seems that the problem is wide spread...

im just happy its office computer, and not something i bough...i know i would be spewing for wasting soooo much money on this...as i said...deffinitelly not the apple fan....
