Hi, I’m trying to get my head around the co-ordinate system in Revit. I’ve written out below my understanding of it, from reading the help and various tutorials. I would appreciate someone say confirming if I’ve missed anything. Cheers. · There are two co-ordinate systems in Revit one relates to the Project Base point, the other relates to the Survey Point. · Project Co-ordinates and Project North are the internal Revit co-ordinates. · A Named Position – This is used where there are several instances of the same building – each position represents one instance. · A survey point is a point which references a known point in the real world – i.e. a survey base station · When the survey point is moved and the paper clip is off, the coordinates of the survey point change in relation to the Project Base Point (i.e. the Project Base Point doesn’t move). · When the survey point is moved and the paper clip is on (not crossed through) the survey points co-ordinates don’t change and the Project Base Point moves. · When you move the Project Base point with the paper clip on (not crossed through) the entire co-ordinate system moves – effectively you pan the drawing – but the Survey point doesn’t change its co-ordinates. · When you move the Project Base point with the paperclip off it moves the icon, but doesn’t change the Project co-ordinates – I don’t see the point of this other than to move the icon.
