After searching the forums for about an hour, I can't find any info on my current Revit question:

Is there a way to set a preset list of choices for schedule information.  For example on my window schedule i have a column for "manufacturer".  In the schedule view I can manually type it in to each, or enter it in the properties of the family.  I only use about 3 or 4 different manufacturers from project to project.  Is there a way to set up preset choices so I click on the schedule box or parameter line (in properties) and get a list of my 4 so I can choose "Pella" or "Marvin" instead of retyping it on each new project?  I know this sounds too simple to worry about, but I have similar cases all over my different schedules.  I know that once I type different values, then I get a drop down of things I've entered so far in this project.

Thanks.

If these are type parameters, then just copy the window type from project to project.  You can then pick the type from the drop down in the schedule if at least one of that type is in the project.

Thanks.  I could do that.  I'm just trying to build in as many presets for choices as possible so as I have interns work on projects they can choose instead of constantly misspelling things.  Wouldn't help the work flow to have to tell them to go copy x window from y project.  As I mentioned I have this case all over my template and would be too much to remember a project for each item.

We maintain several different library project files for things like this.  One file has all our wall types complete with legends fully annotated so you pick the legends you want and copy paste them into your project to get the wall type.  We have other library projects for windows, doors, toilet rooms ...etc.

This is no longer CAD were you find this detail in that project....Much easier to organize into library projects.  We place the items on "sheets" so that you can see them to pick.  In our do library, you can pull up a sheet and it shows multiple  doors in plan and3D along with a schedule of properties. Activate the view...click on the doors you want and copy/paste into your project.

OK, that's not bad.  Now how about this- legend text that is tied to schedule information.  For instance I have a door in the project/on the schedule called out as type- A, material- wood.  Can I have annotation etc. on my legend (of the door elevations) that duplicates this information to keep from manually typing it and me having to check it?

See my post about wall legends..... door legends work the same.  You can copy them from project to project so just put what you want in your library.

To copy ... open the legend view ...window the legend components / notes and paste in a new legend view in your project.

Now I see.  Copy from one legend view to another.  Pretty cool.

Now, the description info on your legends, do you just manually type that in to match the material etc. info in the family?  Is there anyway to link the legend text to the parameters of the family/schedule so if you update those the legend will too automatically?

Thanks!!!

The material notes for the materials in the wall legends are material tags and that information comes out of the material descriptions that we set.  So we no longer have GWB & GYP. BD. or whatever.  The material is always tagged the same in every section or legend.
